Since the Air Jordan line’s inception, Michael Jordan’s salad days at the University of North Carolina and the Tar Heels’ classic powder blue/white color scheme have served as inspiration for his signature footwear, so it’s no surprise to see the ever-popular Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG surface in another fresh UNC-esque makeup. Although the construction is indeed classic leather instead of the patent used on the last Tar Heel-themed Air Jordan 1 that released as part of NBA All-Star Weekend 2019, there are some other noticeable differences here as well. The Tar Heel palette is interpreted in an alternate fashion, as the overlays are split between a light powder blue on the heel/collar flaps and a dark obsidian on the collar itself, the midfoot Swoosh, the eyestays, and the mudugard. Both of these bold blues are held together literally and figuratively by a sail base, and a white midsole/obsidian outsole combo complete the look. As the AJ1 is unquestionably one of the most desirable silhouettes in the world of footwear today, these Air Jordans are sure to sell out quickly when they release on August 31st for $160 USD.
