We Care Arts is an organization that uses art to help individuals with developmental, physical, and emotional challenges. They’re having a fundraiser to help the organization get through the financial struggles of COVID-19.
“It’s really important at this time to support agencies like ours because we’re struggling. We don’t have constant day-to-day revenue and so this is a way for us to be able to support our programing and keep the mission alive for our participants,” says executive director, Darlene Langhout.
We Care Arts is selling t-shirts, masks and other artworks designed by their artists.
Since the global pandemic, the organization has been providing art classes virtually and offering art supplies through curbside pick-up. Langhout says it’s been challenging for many of the artists because they’re not having social interactions or receiving compensation for their artwork.
“Many of our clients work little or not at all and they are living on a fixed income and so the commission from the art sales helps them be able to buy groceries or ride the bus to a doctor’s appointment,” says Langhout.
